How I got here
A name that’s worked here for generations.

Home
I grew up in St. Clairsville.
Willow Creek is a real place: our family’s farm north of town, off Route 9. It was established in the 1820s, it was a dairy farm, and it raises beef cattle today. The company carries its name.

The name
Willow Creek Group started with my uncle, Larry Porterfield.
An Ohio State finance grad from the valley who built a corporate career across the country. I formed my own Willow Creek Group, LLC, in 2016.

Family business
I grew up around a small business.
My family owns and runs Kirke’s Homemade Ice Cream. My dad, Kirke, opened it in St. Clairsville in 1992, and our family has made ice cream since 1926. I saw early how hard it is to keep systems and procedures current when the technology keeps changing.

A business degree from the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State.

After Ohio State
Sales and marketing, from Columbus to Alabama to Utah.
I worked in Columbus, in Birmingham, Alabama, and in Cedar City, Utah: at Verizon, a Fortune 500 company, and as Director of Sales and Marketing at Horst Equipment Repair in Alabama. I’ve also lived and traveled in the Middle East, Central America and Southeast Asia.
What it taught me: a big company has whole teams for pricing, systems and marketing. The shop on Main Street has the owner, after closing. That’s the gap I fill.

I launched Willow Creek Group.
